TOMS RIVER – Township police arrested a man who allegedly entered a school after hours and assaulted a female school employee.
Toms River Township Police Spokesperson Jillian Messina said 21-year-old Daron Griffin is charged with aggravated assault and criminal trespass in the alleged incident that took place Thursday, February 13 at the Walnut Street Elementary School.
Messina explained that the incident took place during a non-school event after hours. The victim was working on the second floor of the building when she was confronted by Griffin who asked to use the bathroom.
“When directed to the downstairs bathroom, the suspect grabbed the victim by the arm and pulled her into the hallway,” Messina added.
The victim broke free and ran down the stairs, being followed by the suspect, who then exited the school through a side door.
Thanks to security camera footage, police identified the suspect as Griffin and arrested him on Valentine’s Day.
