LAKEWOOD — Ocean County authorities are investigating an accident that sent a police officer to a shore area trauma center.
The incident occured on June 30 on Route 70 on the border of Toms River and Lakewood near New Hampshire Avenue. The officer was riding a motorcycle at the time of the incident.
Toms River Police Department Spokesperson Jillian Messina confirmed that the officer was on duty when the crash happened.
The officer was airlifted to Jersey Shore University Medical Center.
The investigation is being handled by the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office.
