Toms River Police Investigating Shooting Death

TOMS RIVER – Police are investigating the shooting death of a 30-year-old Brick Township man at the Hampton Garden Apartments in Toms River.

Police said they were called at about 9:20 p.m. on the night of March 5. Toms River police and local EMS responded to 26 James Street, Building D. The victim, who is not being identified at this time, was unresponsive and was pronounced dead at 10:34 p.m. at the scene.

An autopsy will be performed, and the investigation is ongoing, police said. The Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office’s Major Crimes Unit and Sheriff’s Department’s Criminalistic Investigations Unit also responded.

The police are urging anyone with information to come forward, anonymously if they choose.
