TOMS RIVER – A sinkhole opened on Windsor Avenue in the beginning of last month and the repairs will be finished soon, township officials said.
The sinkhole caused the road to be closed, officials said. It was around a manhole and one of the main problems was a 48” interceptor sanitary main which flows to the Ocean County Utilities Authority pumping station. A bypass was used to go to the OCUA pumping station while repairs were underway.
The sinkhole was isolated and the area was “dewatered.” Then, the broken pipes were replaced and a new manhole was installed. These repairs were completed and the roadwork is in the process of being repaired.
The area will be repaved after about three months to give the ground time to settle.
