TOMS RIVER – The recreation building at Riverwood Park was activated for homeless people in need of a warm place to sleep for tonight, Jan. 22.
The current Code Blue law opens up shelters when the temperature reaches 32 degrees with precipitation, or 25 degrees without precipitation. While inside, there are volunteers and staff to offer referrals for people to get more help than just a night off the street.
The Riverwood Park building will be open from 8:30 p.m. to 8:30 a.m.
Additionally, the First Assembly of God Church, 800 Bay Ave., will be open but only during the day, between the hours of 4 p.m. and 8 p.m.
