TOMS RIVER – A crash near the Mathis Bridge to Seaside Heights has closed the eastbound side of Route 37, and a driver may need to be removed from the vehicle.
The Toms River Office of Emergency Management told drivers to plan an alternate route because all three lanes heading east are closed near the bridge.
The Ocean County Sheriff’s Department sent out a text alert about the crash, and Toms River police, EMS and fire company personnel were called to respond.
Ocean County Scanner News reported that an extrication might be needed. This is when someone is trapped inside the vehicle as a result of the crash.
It is unclear, at this time, if there are any injuries or how serious those injuries could be. More will be reported as the situation unfolds.
