TOMS RIVER – There is some excitement in the air today in Toms River. The aroma of fried chicken confirms that the long-awaited Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen Restaurant has officially opened for business.
The Route 37 location next to Wolfie’s Deli is the first and only Ocean County location thus far. There is one in Howell Township in Monmouth County.
The chicken joint was founded 46 years ago by Alvin Copeland in New Orleans, Louisiana.
The Parikh Network based in Edison owns 125 Popeyes restaurants in the United States including 30 in the Garden State.
