TOMS RIVER — Police talked a man off the ledge of the Route 37 J. Stanley Tunney Bridge on Monday night, according to the department.
On September 16 at approximately 5 p.m., Toms River Police responded to the bridge for reports of a man sitting on the railing facing the water. Officers kept the man talking while waiting for detectives, also trained negotiators, to arrive on the scene.
The detectives eventually talked the man down from the railing and he was transported to Community Medical Center for treatment, the department stated.
During the incident, the Tunney Bridge was briefly closed.
