TOMS RIVER – A Marine. Two brothers. An aspiring police officer. Ages 21-24.
Four young men died after the car they were driving collided with a tanker truck on the Garden State Parkway in Toms River before 3 a.m. Wednesday.
State Police released their names – Kevin Quispe-Prieto, 21, of Beachwood, Jimmy Quispe-Prieto, 23, Victor Lugo, 24, and Robert Ordenana, 23, all of Lakewood – and shore media outlets pieced together brief biographies, mostly from the young men’s social media presence.
One local outlet reports that Kevin and Jimmy Quispe-Prieto were brothers. Both were Toms River High School East graduates.
Ordenana, a Lakewood High School graduate, served in the U.S. Marine Corps.
Lugo, also a Lakewood High School graduate, worked for the township’s Department of Public Works, and reportedly had hoped to become a police officer like his stepfather.
NJSP said Kevin Quispe-Prieto was driving an Infiniti G37 sedan in the right lane when he struck the back of a tanker truck.
The four young men sustained life-threatening injuries and succumbed at the scene. The truck driver, whose identity NJSP didn’t release, suffered minor, non-life-threatening injuries.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
