TOMS RIVER – Two suspects were arrested in connection with a burglary at Bombay Food and International Grocery that happened Feb. 27, police said.
After viewing surveillance video, police were led to Michael Morgan an Erika Cruz. The couple allegedly pried open a rear door of the business and stole $2,700 worth of scratch-off lottery tickets and $500 of Marlboro cigarettes.
The pair cashed in $600 worth of winning tickets at local convenience stores, but were shut down from cashing in others as the Lottery Commission had already reported them stolen, Toms River Police spokesperson Jillian Messina said.
Morgan and Cruz were both charged with burglary and theft. Morgan was taken to Ocean County Jail. Cruz was released on her own recognizance.
