TOMS RIVER — A local man suffered serious injuries in a Thanksgiving night crash when his SUV ran off the Garden State Parkway in the township, according to authorities.
The New Jersey State Police confirmed that 28-year-old Jason Kroessig of Pine Beach was heading north in a Lexus SUV when his vehicle left the road at around 6:50 p.m. before hitting several trees. A number of police and EMS units responded to the scene. Traffic was backed up for several miles.
State Police Sgt. Jeffrey Lebron said the crash happened near milemarker 86.7 and Kroessig sustained serious injuries. He was taken to a local hospital.
There was another accident reported a short time later on the southbound side of the Parkway involving four vehicles. Police said the injuries in that crash were all minor.
Both incidents remain under probe.
