TOMS RIVER – A driver was charged after he allegedly struck a pedestrian and fled after the crash.
Police said that at around 9:30 p.m. on September 21, Lance Carter, 25, of Toms River was struck by a vehicle.
Investigators determined that the vehicle was heading north on Massachusetts Avenue near Mobile Lane when it hit the pedestrian.
Carter was taken to Community Medical Center in Toms River, where he is listed in critical condition.
The vehicle left the area but police learned that the driver was Stacy Jordan, 60, of Toms River. He was taken into custody on September 27.
He was charged with Knowingly Leaving the Scene of a Motor Vehicle Accident resulting in Serious Bodily Injury to Another Person.
