TOMS RIVER – We now know a little more about that fatal accident in Toms River Saturday afternoon that left an 82-year-old woman dead.
Toms River Police say 33-year-old Danny Reed of the township was driving his Hyundai Santa Fe on New Hampshire Avenue near North Maple.
An investigation has revealed he crossed the center line and struck a Toyota Camry driven by 82-year-old Jean Divona of Greenbriar Woodlands.
Divona was trapped inside her vehicle and freed by Silverton and Pleasant Plains Fire Departments.
According to department spokesperson Jillian Messina, CPR was administered but Divona was pronounced at Monmouth Medical Center South Campus in Lakewood.
Reed cooperated with authorities and consented to blood tests with the Ocean County Prosecutors Office and the Toms River Traffic Safety Unit.
Messina tells Jersey Shore Online that charges are pending at the conclusion of the investigation.
