TOMS RIVER – A man visiting a restroom in a Route 37 restaurant was assaulted and had his car keys stolen, police said.
The assault happened at around 2 a.m. on September 17. The 25-year-old victim told police two people attacked him while he was washing his hands. He was taken to Community Medical Center in Toms River for his injuries, police said.
His vehicle, which was parked outside, was stolen and found by Barnegat Police, leading to two arrests.
Michael Fischkelta, 18 of Barnegat was charged with robbery, simple assault and theft.
A 17-year-old male, also from Barnegat, received juvenile complaints for robbery, aggravated assault and theft.
Charges are merely accusations until proven in a court of law.
