Man Hospitalized After Struck By Vehicle

  TOMS RIVER – A Toms River man was hospitalized after being struck by a car on Route 9 last night, according to police.

  On Nov. 25, at approximately 9:04 p.m., police responded to the area of Route 9 near the intersection of Clover Road for reports of a pedestrian struck by a motor vehicle. Eric Sexton, 52, was crossing Route 9 in front of Stop and Shop when he was struck by 72-year old Mihai Pasnicu of Lakewood, who was travelling southbound on Route 9.

  When police arrived on scene, Sexton was unresponsive and was transported to Jersey Shore Medical Center by Hatzolah EMS.

  According to a preliminary investigation, Pasnicu was not driving impaired nor was he using his cell phone at the time of the accident. The pedestrian, Sexton, may have been under the influence of alcohol and was wearing dark clothing at the time of the accident.

  Motor vehicle charges to Sexton are pending. The investigation is ongoing.
