ORTLEY BEACH – Friends of Ortley Beach, a nonprofit 501(c)3 organization that formed in the aftermath of Superstorm Sandy to bring events, programs and awareness to the coastal town presents the 3rd Annual Kites, Crafts & Cones Festival on July 27 from noon to 8 p.m. on the 3rd Avenue boardwalk in Ortley Beach.
“What’s better than a day at the beach? How about a day at the beach that includes old fashioned family fun, handmade local crafts, face painting, live music, refreshing ice cream, and large-scale kites?” said Gail D’Amico of Friends of Ortley Beach.
Schedule of Events:
- Noon to 7 p.m. – Local artisans – Crafters will display their handmade wares on the boardwalk. Handmade items will include beach-themed home décor, upcycled furniture, stained glass, jewelry, original paintings, and more!
- 4 to 7 p.m. – Free face painting
- 5 to 8 p.m. – Live Music by the local band Lefty Southpaw
- 6:15 p.m. to 8:15 p.m. – Large-scale professional kites will fly on the beach. Participants are welcome to fly their own kites as well.
The event also will offer sausage sandwiches, cheesesteaks, hot dogs, ice cream and other refreshments for sale.
The rain date is July 28.
Friends of Ortley Beach brings educational, cultural, and historic events and programs to the barrier island community. The organization also will host the Toms River Shakespeare Festival’s production of “Measure for Measure” on Aug. 7 and Doggie Day in Ortley Beach on Aug. 24 from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
