ISLAND HEIGHTS – A 42-year-old man was arrested and charged after crashing into a boardwalk Sunday morning, police said.
Officers arrived to the area of River Avenue and West End Avenue in Island Heights around 1:10 a.m. to find a 2017 Nissan Altima that was crashed into the boardwalk. Additionally, power lines were down along with a street light.
The Island Heights Fire Department and Island Heights First Aid Squad responded to the scene and no injuries were reported.
According to police, a section of the boardwalk sustained serious damage due to the crash.
Asa Williams, 42, was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated. He was also issued summonses for failure to maintain lane, careless driving, reckless driving and damage to public property. He is to appear in the Island Heights Municipal Court at a later date.
