TOMS RIVER – A motor vehicle crash occurred when a driver was waved on and hit another vehicle.
At about 5:15 p.m. on May 15, Jade Somers, 17 of Seaside Heights, was attempting to turn left into 111 W Water Street near the intersection with Adafre Avenue. Her vehicle collided with the one driven by Lori Adkins, 30 of Toms River. Adkins was attempting to pass on the shoulder around a vehicle making a left onto Adafre. The driver of the uninvolved vehicle had waved Ms. Somers on to turn into the parking lot, police said.
Preliminary investigation revealed that Adkins improperly and unlawfully passed on the roadway shoulder, causing the traffic collision, police said. She was issued a summons for improper passing.
