TOMS RIVER – The Bon Jovi Soul Kitchen’s 6th Annual Chili Cook-Off has begun, which honors local first responders for their service to the community.
Members of the Island Heights First Aid will be serving their chili from November 10 through November 14 at the Jon Bon Jovi Soul Kitchen community restaurant in Toms River.
Normally, entrants would show their chili and be sampled on a single day. Due to COVID-19, the layout changed and it has been extended to a week for each entrant.
This year, the New Jersey State Police, Tinton Falls EMS, and Toms River Fire Department No. 1 have all participated in the Chili Cook-Off. The winning contestant will be announced on or around Nov. 21.
“We might not be able to have our traditional Chili Cook-Off in person, but we still get to taste them all!” said Jon Bon Jovi on social media. “Come to Toms River for lunch or dinner to give it a try!”
Dinner in Toms River can feature a chili as their appetizer as part of the restaurant’s regular three-course meal offering. Every time their chili is ordered, contestants will receive points. The Toms River Soul Kitchen is located inside the B.E.A.T. Center on Hooper Avenue.
