WARETOWN – A fire was extinguished Sunday evening in an empty house in Skippers Cove, officials said.
Flames were first discovered in the back of the home. Crews searched the house to make sure no residents were inside.
Firefighters were able to control the fire quickly and no injuries were reported, the Waretown Volunteer Fire Company said. At this time, the fire is under investigation by the fire marshal and police.
“We would also like to thank Barnegat Fire Department for covering our fire house during the incident, and for handling a fire alarm at Shop Rite for us. As well as Waretown First Aid Squad for standing by and Lanoka Fire Department for bringing their cascade unit (6113) after the fire was out to fill air bottles,” the Waretown Volunteer Fire Company said.
