STAFFORD – An investigation concerning a vehicle that crashed into a building on East Bay Avenue near Park Avenue continues.
The crash occurred around 1:50 a.m. on Jan. 24 and involved a vehicle driven by Barnegat resident Ramon Davis Jr. who was traveling west on Bay Avenue.
Davis’s vehicle left the roadway hitting several trees before crashing into the P&K Firearms and Ammo building at 63 East Bay Ave. Davis was transported to Southern Ocean Medical Center for treatment of a minor injury.
As the collision also compromised a gas line an evacuation was required of nearby residents. No one else was injured and East Bay Avenue was closed between Route 9 and Union during the investigation.
NJ Natural gas was able to secure the gas leak and are currently still working to patch the roadway back up.
East Bay Avenue reopened one lane around 7:53 a.m. while the other lane remained closed while NJ Gas finishes their work. The area is deemed safe and residents are returning to their homes.
All school transportation was advised of the closure.
Stafford Police Officer Marc Povlosky is the investigating officer and was assisted by officers of the Stafford EMS and Stafford Fire Department.
