STAFFORD – Two dogs died after a fire broke out in an Ocean Acres home over the weekend, police said.
On May 12, at approximately 3:30 p.m., police responded to a residence on Inboard Avenue in Ocean Acres for a report of a structure fire.
Once on the scene, officers observed smoke coming from the house. Aside from the two dogs involved in the incident, police determined that no residents were still inside the home. Police treated the dogs with oxygen and they were transported to the Lakewood Animal Hospital, where they later passed away.
The Stafford Township Bureau of Fire Prevention, The Ocean County Fire Marshal and Stafford Township Police Detective Bureau are investigating the cause of the fire.
The Stafford, Barnegat, and Lacey Township Fire Companies and Stafford and Barnegat EMS responded to the scene.
