LACEY – Police have identified the individuals involved in a fatal collision that occurred on Route 539 on May 7.
Grace M. Havel, 78, of Whiting was victim to the fatal two-car collision in Lacey Township.
Police responded to mile marker 15.9 on Route 539 at 11:35 a.m. on May 7 for report of a serious accident.
An investigation found that Havel was traveling north on Route 539 in a 2005 Chevrolet Malibu when she veered over the center line into the path of a 2006 GMC Savana box truck. The truck was traveling south on Route 539, driven by 30-year-old Cristhoph Quirindongo-Herna of Newark.
Havel was pronounced dead at the scene. Quirindongo-Herna sustained only a minor injury to his left arm and was transported to Southern Ocean County Medical Center.
The incident was investigated by Lacey Township Police Department Fatal Accident Support Team, Ocean County Sherriff’s Department CIU unit, and the Ocean County Medical Examiner’s Office.
