BARNEGAT – Emergency personnel came together to extinguish a vehicle fire this afternoon on Barnegat Boulevard.
At approximately 12 p.m., Barnegat Vol. Fire Company Station 11 responded to the area of Barnegat Boulevard and Ravenwood for reports of a car fire. Once on the scene, firefighters observed heavy smoke emanating from the engine compartment of a pickup truck.
Members of the Barnegat Police Department attempted to control the fire with a fire extinguisher while Assistant Chief 1110 donned his protective fire gear. Once he was geared up, he was able to open the hood of the vehicle, giving police a better chance at putting out the flames.
Unfortunately, at that point, the fire had already overtaken the engine and it took the help of engine tanker 1101 to extinguish the fire completely.
“Thankfully no injuries were reported and thanks to the quick work of the police and the fire department no further damage was caused to passerby‘s or the surrounding area,” stated a post by Barnegat Vol. Fire Company Station 11.
