TUCKERTON – A Manahawkin man is spending this Fourth of July holiday behind bars after allegedly stealing a boat and crashing it shortly after.
32-year-old Kevin Bacorn was picked up by police and faces a slew of charges including theft, criminal trespassing and boating while intoxicated.
New Jersey State Police say it happened Tuesday night after local authorities received a report about a boating accident at South Green Street Park in Little Egg Harbor.
With the help of thermal imaging cameras, police and firefighters on scene found Bacorn hiding under the deck of an abandoned house.
According to a Facebook post from the Tuckerton Fire Department, both the boat and the bulkhead sustained significant damage.
New Jersey State Police are leading the investigation.
