TRENTON – The Southern Ocean County Chamber of Commerce received the 2019 New Jersey Tourism President’s Award for its Downtown Driven Water Ferry project.
The award was presented May 9 at the New Jersey Tourism Week breakfast and advocacy day, held at the Masonic Temple in Trenton. More than 120 statewide tourism leaders attended.
The project is a private and public partnership that includes Beach Haven and Tuckerton boroughs, the Chamber, Ocean County Planning Department an Tuckerton Seaport Museum. The ferry will run July 4th weekend and every Saturday, Sunday and Monday through Labor Day. It will also run during Chowderfest Oct. 5 and 6.
The ferry is free, but reservations can be made for $10 round trip that benefits the Seaport at LBIFerry.com.
Two chamber members were also recognized for their work. The Suasion Communication Group received the Digital Outreach Tourism Excellence Award. Six Flags Great Adventure won the Public Relations Tourism Excellence award.
