STAFFORD – The Stafford Township Police Department will host a gun take back event 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Oct. 20 at police headquarters, 260 E. Bay Ave. The event is in cooperation with the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office.
This is not an amnesty program or buy-back event. This is geared toward those who have firearms they wish to dispose of. For instance, they inherited them from a relative and don’t wish to own them anymore.
All firearms must be unloaded when turned in, and in “safe condition.” Background checks on all weapons will be done during processing.
Those turning in the weapons must also have proper ID.
Residents should park on the east of the municipal building and will see signs directing them where to go.
