TOMS RIVER – A former Lacey Township Committeeman was charged with aggravated assault after pointing a handgun at a man who was lost in the woods, police said.
David E. Most, 60, was charged with aggravated assault with a firearm, unlawful possession of a handgun without a permit and possession of a firearm for an unlawful purpose.
On June 9, police responded to 2196 Lacey Road, Forked River for reports of a suspicious person trespassing. Once on the scene, police discovered a man coming out of the woods claiming that he was lost after leaving a party.
“The subject advised the police that he was approached by a male subject carrying a flashlight and pointing a handgun at him,” read a statement from Capt. Patrick Ganley.
Police identified the man as Most and he was processed and lodged in the Ocean County Correctional Facility.
