FORKED RIVER – The sirens will sound for the last time at noon on Tuesday.
Oyster Creek will have its final semi-annual, full volume emergency warning sirens test on June 4. Forty-two sirens within a 10-mile radius of the generating station comprise the system.
The sirens will sound for three minutes.
The siren system had to remain in operation under local, state and federal emergency requirements “until certain emergency procedures and processes are no longer in place,” a May 31 statement from Exelon Generation said.
Those procedures will be discontinued later this year, making this the final required siren test.
Oyster Creek stopped operations Sept. 17, 2018, after almost 49 years of service.
