BARNEGAT – Police continue to investigate a crash that left one dead and sent another to the hospital over the weekend.
On June 23 at approximately 11:18 p.m., Barnegat Police officers responded to Warren Grove Road for a report of a motor vehicle accident. A preliminary investigation discovered a 2011 Chevrolet Avalanche left the roadway, colliding with a tree, according to police.
The driver, 20-year old Ender Lopez-Perez of Little Egg Harbor, was killed in the crash. His passenger, a 20-year old Little Egg Harbor man, was transported to Southern Ocean Medical Center where he was evaluated and released.
While responding to the crash, a member of the Barnegat Volunteer Fire Company was transported to Southern Ocean Medical Center for medical evaluation, police added.
The crash investigation is ongoing.
Barnegat Police were assisted by the Barnegat Volunteer First Aid Squad, Barnegat Volunteer Fire Company, Ocean County Sheriff’s Department CSI, Stafford Township Police Department, Stafford Township Volunteer Fire Company, and the Little Egg Harbor Police Department.
