STAFFORD – A bicyclist sustained serious injuries after he was stuck by a vehicle while riding down Route 72 in Manahawkin Saturday morning.
Stafford Township Police said they received the call to respond around 9:41 a.m. in the area of the Bed, Bath and Beyond shopping center.
An initial investigation revealed the victim was on his bike when he cut through stopped vehicles in two lanes of travel before colliding with a Mazda CX-5 driven by 35-year-old Sarah Gleeson of Collingswood.
Police said Gleeson was in the right lane when the man on the bike unexpectedly entered her lane of travel. He was hit and made contact with the windshield before landing on the ground.
The bicyclist sustained a head injury and was flown to Atlantic City Trauma for treatment where he is currently listed in observational status.
Identification of the bicyclist is not included at this time pending notification to family members.
