BARNEGAT – The cause of a fire damaging three boats in a Barnegat marina has been ruled accidental, according to police.
A fire was reported at Toni G’s Marina on East Bay Avenue at approximately 10:30 p.m. on October 8.
Police Chief Keith Germain stated that the fire reportedly began on one private boat in the marina, spreading to the sailboat directly next to it. The mast from the sailboat then collapsed onto a third boat, damaging that one as well.
The boat on which the fire started and the sailboat were both “total losses,” said Germain.
Although no injuries were reported, a NJ News 12 report claimed that the marina owners were concerned their house could catch fire as a result of strong winds.
