LACEY – A neighbor spotted two men that he was suspicious of and called police. He made a second call after one of the men entered a house and a woman started screaming.
The incident happened at around 3:30 p.m. on July 10, according to police. The caller, who lived on Elwood Street in Forked River, saw two men in the street. They called police because he thought they were acting suspiciously.
Then, the neighbor saw one of the men enter a home and heard a woman screaming. He called police again.
When Officer Michael Hutman arrived, he saw a suspect fleeing the home. The officer first took care of the victim, who was injured.
Detective Sgt. Robert Surtees then located the subject walking on nearby Harrison Avenue.
Shaddiy Whittaker, 29, was placed under arrest and charged with Burglary, Aggravated Assault, Criminal Mischief, and Resisting Arrest. Whittacker was lodged in the Ocean County Correctional Facility without bail.
