MANCHESTER – A motor vehicle accident in the township has shut down a section of road and has police urging everyone to stay away from the area for the next several hours.
Police issued an alert shortly after 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday, March 29 saying that motorists should avoid Ridgeway Road Route 571 at Commonwealth Boulevard and Whitesville Road.
According to Ocean County Scanner News, initial scanner chatter indicated that there were multiple vehicles involved and at least one person had to be airlifted to Jersey Shore University Medical Center.

The Lakewood Scoop had reported there was a possible fatality, although police have not yet confirmed any details of the crash.
Police and emergency medical crews are on the scene.
