TOMS RIVER – Ocean Health Initiatives, Inc. (OHI) will be hosting additional measles vaccine events at their Toms River and Little Egg Harbor locations.
OHI will be providing free (MMR) measles vaccines on Nov. 15, 11:30 a.m. to 8 p.m., at the Toms River Health Center and on Nov. 20, 11:30 a.m. to 8 p.m., at the Little Egg Harbor Health Center. No appointment is required.
While getting your free measles shot, you can also get a flu shot, while supplies last. OHI accepts and works with most insurance. For adult patients without insurance, the regular flu shot costs $20 and the high dose for seniors costs $40. Free flu shots will be available through the Vaccines for Children (VFC), a federally funded program, for children who do not have insurance, are self-pay patients, or who are recipients of Medicaid Plan A.
Following the recent outbreak of measles in Lakewood, OHI has been hosting numerous free vaccination events. Since last week, OHI has vaccinated over 1,000 Lakewood residents.
All OHI Health Centers currently carry the MMR and Flu Vaccine.
If you have been exposed or show symptoms of measles, you must mention this to your health care provider when booking an appointment to ensure the safety of other patients and staff.
