“The Ocean County Health Department is excited about this new program and we are encouraging residents, especially those with diabetes, to spend some time with our professionals and learn more about the benefits of shopping and eating healthy while staying within your budget constraints,” said Freeholder Gerry P. Little, Liaison to the Ocean County Board of Health. ‘You’ll be surprised just how much more there is to learn from these free educational programs whether you’re shopping for a family or just yourself.”
The program will not only help you shop smart, but registered dieticians will stimulate your taste buds by cooking up a few delicious menu ideas to demonstrate just how tasty these healthy dishes can be and so easy to prepare.
“We want people to understand that eating healthy doesn’t have to be expensive. Additionally, healthy meals don’t have to be tasteless and really can be delicious without having to spend a lot of time in the kitchen preparing,” said Daniel Regenye, Ocean County Health Department Public Health Coordinator. “It’s not easy for diabetics, they have many challenges when trying to come up with smart choices and still enjoy what they are eating.”
