TOMS RIVER – The Lakewood woman accused of murdering her two young daughters will remain behind bars until her trial begins.
During a Monday morning detention hearing in Ocean County Superior Court, 27-year-old Naomi Elkins agreed to stay in the Ocean County Jail.
Elkins was arrested after the June 25th crime when she stabbed her 1-year old daughter before drowning her and her 3-year-old daughter.
According to several media reports, Elkins told the authorities that she needed to “kill the children for religious purposes.”
Elkins is charged with two counts of Murder, Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose, and Unlawful Possession of a Weapon.
