LAKEWOOD – A man with a history of similar charges was arrested Tuesday for attempting to lure a 15-year-old girl into his pick-up truck.
The incident allegedly happened in the area of 6th Street and Madison Avenue. The perpetrator “made some harassing comments with the purpose to cause alarm and for self gratification,” police said. When the teenager ran, the driver followed in his truck. Patrol Officer Sherry Jones spotted a truck that matched the victim’s description and pulled it over in the CVS parking lot on River Avenue, police said.
The driver was identified as Ronald Jakubowski, 50, of Toms River. He was arrested and charged with a fourth degree harassment violation. He was later released pending a future court date.
Last year, the suspect was charged with making lewd gestures to a 10-year-old girl in the back seat of a car he was driving alongside. Four years earlier, he was accused of exposing himself to young girls in a grocery store.
According to the Sex Offender registry, Jakubowksi was first convicted back in December of 2007 in Middlesex County. He’s a tier 2 – moderate risk according to the sexoffendersbystate.com website.
