Ocean County Man Pleads Guilty To Armed Robbery

LAKEWOOD – A township man pleaded guilty to holding up a pharmacy in town with a handgun, police said.

Elioenai Aguinaga, 32, of Lakewood, pleaded guilty to the crime that took place on March 26, 2020. He went into Taylor’s Pharmacy on Madison Avenue, brandished a handgun at the clerk, and demanded money from the register. He left with about $130.

Aguinaga was arrested on April 25 after an investigation. He has been in Ocean County Jail ever since.

The State will be seeking a term of eight years New Jersey State Prison, subject to the terms of the No Early Release Act, which means that he must serve at least 85 percent of his sentence before being eligible for parole.

Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer commended the diligence of Assistant Prosecutor Kaitlyn Burke who handled the case on behalf of the State, as well as the hard work and determination exhibited by Officers of the Lakewood Township Police Department and Detective Bureau in their investigation of this matter which ultimately resulted in Aguinaga’s guilty plea.
