Ocean County Man Charged With Variety Of Drugs

TOMS RIVER – A local man allegedly had meth, marijuana, and cocaine in a home police said he used for drug dealing.

  Jonathan Acosta, 39, of Toms River, was under police surveillance and was pulled over. They searched his home and allegedly found 21 grams of methamphetamine, approximately one-half pound of marijuana, a quantity of cocaine, and materials indicative of narcotics distribution.  

  He was charged with Possession of More than One Half Ounce but Less than Five Ounces of Methamphetamine with Intent to Distribute, Possession of More than One Ounce but Less than Five Pounds of Marijuana with Intent to Distribute, Possession of Cocaine, Possession of Methamphetamine, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.  

  This happened on March 20, 2025. He was processed and released due to the New Jersey Bail Reform laws, police said. 

  On April 2, 2025, police put him under surveillance again. They tried to pull him over again, but he did not stop right away. Police said he was swerving between lanes and threw something out the driver’s side window.

  The object turned out to be about 37 grams of suspected cocaine. He was successfully pulled over, and police said they found narcotic distribution items in the vehicle.

  Acosta was then charged with Possession of More than One Half Ounce but Less than Five Ounces of Cocaine with Intent to Distribute, Possession of Cocaine, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Wandering to Obtain/Distribute a Controlled Dangerous Substance, Eluding, and Hindering Apprehension or Prosecution. He was jailed pending a detention hearing.

  Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer commended the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Narcotics Strike Force, Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Asset Forfeiture Unit, Toms River Township Police Department, and Toms River Township Police Department Emergency Services Unit, for their collaborative efforts in connection with these investigations.
