LAKEWOOD – A Lakewood man with a warrant out for his arrest was charged with resisting arrest after he was spotted by officers last week.
On Jan. 16 at around 9:40 p.m., Lakewood Officer James Mahecha was traveling along Route 9 south when he noticed a man he believed had an outstanding criminal warrant for his arrest. After confirming the man’s identity, Officer Mahecha approached the man crossing the parking lot of the 7-11 at 200 River Avenue.
The officer attempted to place 29-year old Charles Davis in handcuffs when he began resisting Mahecha’s control. Davis was taken down to the ground with the assistance of Officer Daniel Umlauf.
Davis was served with the warrant for his arrest and charged with one count of Resisting Arrest. He was later transported to the Ocean County Jail.
