OCEAN COUNTY – A Lakewood man has been charged with distribution and possession of child pornography.
Gershon Biegeleisen, 28, of Lakewood, was arrested Feb. 8 and charged with second-degree distribution of child pornography and third-degree possession of child pornography. He was caught as part of what the OC Prosecutor’s office calls a “proactive operation” conducted by the prosecutor’s office High Tech Crime Unit, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations and Lakewood Police Department.
The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, through the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, tipped Ocean County officials that someone in Lakewood had downloaded and shared images of prepubescent children engaging in sex acts. An investigation led authorities to 186A Columbus Ave. in Lakewood, where evidence was found.
Biegeleisen is being held in the Ocean County Jail pending his first appearance hearing.
