TOMS RIVER – There were some tense moments on the main campus of Ocean County College Monday. One of the buildings was evacuated after a student was seen wearing what was believed to be a bullet proof or combat vest. Thankfully, it was just a misunderstanding.
Ocean County Scanner News was the first to report the hullabaloo after they received reports that police were on the scene outside the Gateway building along with students and faculty.
After a search, it was deemed safe for everyone to return to class. Police said there was never any threat or danger. They said a student was wearing a weighted training vest in preparation for an upcoming MMA fight.

Police also said that it is always better to be safe than sorry and that if you see something out of the ordinary, you should always say something.
