Four Year Ocean County Drug Collection Program Yields Huge Results

OCEAN COUNTY – The Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office has collected nearly 40,000 pounds of unused prescriptions since October 2014. The program, Project Medicine Drop, was started in the summer 2014.

The county, under the direction of outgoing Prosecutor Joseph Coronato, collected 3,920 pounds on Sept. 28 alone.

The county has collected:

October 3, 2014, 2220 lbs.

March 27, 2015, 2880 lbs.

July 17, 2015, 2520 lbs.

October 29, 2015. 2300 lbs.

December 2, 2015, 1040 lbs.

April 13, 2016, 2380 lbs.

July 20, 2016, 2960 lbs.

October 26, 2016, 2800 lbs.

March 1, 2017, 3280 lbs.

August 3, 2017, 4,460 lbs.

December 14, 2017, 4,420 lbs.

May 18, 2018, 3500 lbs.

September 28, 2018, 3920 lbs.

The project, started by Coronato, makes disposal of unused medications easy for county residents.
