OCEAN COUNTY – October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month.
The New Jersey State Police and Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office are holding a food drive to benefit victims and survivors of domestic violence. An annual campaign is held each October to raise public awareness about domestic violence in order to eradicate it from communities.
Donations of nonperishable food will be collected now through Oct. 31. The food will be distributed to local domestic violence shelters during November to assist with Thanksgiving efforts.
Items needed include: canned vegetables, vegetable soup, canned tomato products, spaghetti sauce, baby food, V-8, canned fruit, raisins, apple sauce, dried fruit, canned and boxed juice, rice and rice mixes, canned pasta, noodle mixes, dry noodles and pasta, macaroni and cheese mix, cold cereals, bran cereal, shredded wheat, infant cereal, hot cereal mixes, oatmeal, bread and muffin mixes, pancake mix, whole grain crackers, granola bars, graham crackers, and flour.
Donations can be dropped off at the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office lobby, 119 Hooper Ave. in Toms River.
