JACKSON – Authorities are searching for a driver that is allegedly involved in a fatal crash that occurred over the weekend.
The crash was reported on June 9 around 12 p.m. in the area of Farmingdale Road. According to officials, a 2017 Audi A4 was traveling westbound on Farmingdale Road when it swerved to avoid a head on collision with a red SUV.
While swerving left to avoid the crash, the Audi subsequently hit a bicyclist. The driver of the Audi then over corrected his steering and struck a tree.
After striking the bicyclist, the driver of the red SUV continued eastbound on Farmingdale Road, and left the scene, officials said.
The bicyclist was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the Audi was transported to CentraState Medical Center in Freehold for treatment of minor injuries.
Officials believe that a Hyundai – red or maroon in color – may have caused the crash. The driver is believed to be a Caucasian woman with a young boy.
