BARNEGAT – Police said a local man was found uploading images of child pornography using an internet app.

Fabian Lugo, 27, of Barnegat, was charged with Possession of Child Pornography. His arrest stemmed from a cyber-tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children that someone was uploading images of child pornography. This led to a referral from the New Jersey State Police Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.

Local investigators tracked the incident to an IP address in Barnegat. The suspect was identified as Lugo, police said.

Detectives from multiple departments executed a search warrant on his home. Police said an initial examination of his electronic devices led to the discovery of several items of child pornography.

Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer commended the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office High Tech Crime Unit, United States Department of Homeland Security Investigations, Barnegat Township Police Department, Ocean County Regional SWAT Team, New Jersey State Police Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, and National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, for their collaborative assistance in connection with this investigation leading to Lugo’s arrest.

Charges are merely accusations until proven in a court of law.
