WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Chris Smith (R-4th) announced on January 18 that he has halted his Twitter account over “security concerns and to help the district and nation move toward unity during this difficult time.”
The congressman didn’t elaborate on what the security concerns were.
“Divisive and hate-filled tweets have become far too frequent and impede the healing so needed today,” read a release from his office.
The office will continue to use Instagram, its website, and of course phone calls and emails to communicate with “thousands of constituents freely expressing their opinions.”
