LAKEWOOD – One person was killed and three were injured after a car collided with a home and overturned, officials said.

On July 5, the Lakewood Township Police Department responded to the area of Clover Street and Cedarbridge Avenue around 9:30 p.m. regarding a serous car crash.

After an investigation by the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Vehicular Homicide Unit, Lakewood Township Police Department and the Ocean County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Investigation Unit, it was revealed that a juvenile was driving an Infinity G37 eastbound on Cedarbridge Avenue with two other passengers in the car, Hector Martinez, 18, of Toms River and another juvenile. As they approached the cross street of Clover Street at a high rate of speed, an unidentified car was in the left-hand turn lane attempting to make a left-hand turn onto Clover Street, police said.

The driver of the Infinity G37 attempted to navigate around that car and lost control. As a result, the car left the roadway and collided with a building. It then overturned and came to rest on its hood.

According to police, the juvenile passenger seated in the back seat of the car was ejected and pronounced dead at the scene. Both the juvenile driver and Martinez were transported to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune to be treated for their injuries.
