LAKEWOOD – No students were injured when a minivan and a full school bus collided in Lakewood earlier today, police reported.

At approximately 9:30 a.m., police responded to the intersection of Central Avenue and Bradshaw Road following reports that a vehicle collided with a school bus.

The bus driver, 63-year old Raymond Schlombert of Lakewood, attempted to cross west over Central Avenue illegally when the incident occurred. The bus was then struck by a 2001 Toyota Sienna minivan driven by 39-year old Gitty Olshin, also of Lakewood.

According to Capt. Gregory Staffordsmith, there were 36 children aboard the bus at the time of the collision. None were injured in the incident. Olshin was transported to a local hospital for a complaint of pain.

Police continue to investigate; however, summonses are expected to be issued to the operator of the bus upon completion.
